When the pulp (the soft inside part of a tooth) gets infected or dies, a root canal treatment near you is needed to save the tooth. This can happen when the hard outer layer of the tooth (the enamel) is damaged. The most common reasons are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, or an injury. A root canal is usually a comfortable procedure that can stop you from losing your tooth and helps keep your mouth healthy.
When the nerve in a tooth is discoloured due to decay or infection, it generally needs a root canal. To do this, the nerve, pulp, any bacteria, and some of the decay must be removed by the dentist. After everything has been removed from the tooth, the dentist will fill the area with special, medicated material and make sure the tooth is stable and able to function normally.
A root canal treatment near you is the best option for a tooth that would most likely need to be extracted otherwise. Some people think it is better to just remove the tooth, but pulling a tooth can end up costing more money and can cause problems for the nearby teeth.
Root canal treatment works very well and often lasts a lifetime, although sometimes the tooth may need to be treated again if a new infection happens.

Reasons for root canal treatment:
A root canal treatment in Lloydminster usually takes one or more visits and can be done by your dentist or a root canal specialist called an endodontist. First, the dentist will numb your tooth so you don’t feel pain. They will put a rubber sheet around the tooth to keep it dry and clean. Then, they will make a small hole on top of the tooth and use tiny tools to remove the pulp, nerve tissue, bacteria, and any decay. After the tooth is cleaned out, it will be sealed. Sometimes, a temporary filling is placed if you need to come back for another appointment.
At the next visit, the dentist will fill and seal the roots and the inside of the tooth with special materials. A filling will be used to close the hole on top. Usually, a crown (cap) is put on the tooth to protect it, keep it from breaking, and help you chew normally again. For a few days after treatment, your tooth may feel sensitive; however, this sensation will subside as it heals. The dentist will give you instructions on how to care for your tooth. Brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups will help your root canal last a long time.
If you’re experiencing any symptoms or suspect you might need a root canal treatment in Lloydminster, don’t delay seeking care. Early intervention can preserve your natural teeth and protect your overall oral health.
